Our Story

When the world’s finest teas meet Moroccan herbals

In 1713,
the Sultan Moulay Ismaïl of Morocco received a wonderful diplomatic present
from Queen Anne of England : a few chests of precious Chinese tea.

Immediately,
Moroccans fell in love with this exotic plant and incorporated its leaves into
their centuries-old herbal infusions recipes.

The Moroccan Botanist tells the story of this encounter between the finest teas in
the world and the vibrant botanical tradition of the Kingdom of Morocco.

Our coat of arms is a reminder of
this key moment in the history of tea in Morocco:

On August 2nd 1713, Queen
Anne of England granted an audience to the Ambassador of Moulay Ismail. She ordered that the Ambassador
should be given a long list of gifts for the Sultan :

« A herd of fallow deer
Two dozen of the largest china dishes that can be had
… and a fine tea »

Our coat of arms symbolizes these treasures: the royal couple of deer support the shield
which proudly displays the pestle and mortar, the tools of the botanist.

The peacock, a traditional ornament of Chinese porcelain, sits on top of a wooden crate containing and the precious and rare tea.
